Medical technologist held for issuing fake Covid-19 certificates in Kushtia

Acting on a tip-off, a team of law enforcers conducted a drive at the health complex and arrested him

Detective Branch of Police arrested a medical technologist in Kushtia for collecting money by supplying fake Covid-19 certificates on Wednesday night.

The arrestee is identified as Mahfuzur Rahman, a medical technologist at Mirpur Upazila Health Complex of Kushtia.

Confirming the news, Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of the Detective Branch, said acting on a tip-off, a team of law enforcers conducted a drive at the health complex and arrested him.

A computer hard disk and a pen drive with fake certificates were also seized from his room during the raid, he said.

The OC also said that Mahfuzur Rahman was involved in the Covid-19 certificate scam and used to provide peoples with fake certificates.

The district civil surgeon Dr HM Anwarul Islam filed a case against Mahfuzur with Mirpur Police Station.
